Klara and the Sun

Androids, or Artificial Friends, as companions for children is not a new tale (see: I, Robot), but Ishiguro brings typical gravitas and emotion to the idea. Klara is perfectly realised, as is the world she tries understand. What responsibilities will we (or do we) have to an intelligent machine, particularly one that is so dedicated to their human companion.
