The Mountain in the Sea

I bounced off this the first time, not quite buying into a hyper-intelligent cephalopod, but the hype of the accursed ‘AI’ led to another more successful attempt. It’s a disturbing and sobering reflection on the impact of humanity on the natural world from a unique angle. I appreciated that Nayler didn’t try and understand or get inside the head of an alien mind (unlike Adrian Tchaikovsky), leaving the mystery for our personal imaginations.
