All Systems Red

The start of an excellent series told from the perspective of a ‘rogue’ Security Unit, a half-android half-human hybrid made to protect humans venturing in a well-established galactic empire. The SecUnit (as it calls itself) is a great character, learning how to be free and how to balance that freedom with a learnt need to help, all whilst learning how to ‘be’ from space-opera soaps.

A second read for All Systems Red, having decided to read the entire series. My thoughts from 2023 still ring true - it’s a remarkably strong debut with all the jigsaw pieces already in place for the later books.
